Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physicians (ABEM) for locum coverage in Aiken, South Carolina. This community emergency department offers robust physician and APC coverage across all shifts, a strong subspecialty backup network, and competitive compensation with full travel support. Assignment Highlights

• Location: Aiken, South Carolina
• Specialty: Emergency Medicine
• Start Date: ASAP – Ongoing
• Shift Structure: All shifts available
  • Physicians: 7a–4p, 11a–9p, 4p–2a, 9p–7a
  • APCs: 8a–6p, 11a–9p, 6p–4a
• Coverage Model:
  • Physicians: 40 hours/day
  • APCs: 30–36 hours/day
• Annual ED Volume: ~40,000 visits
• Patient Volume: 2–2.3 patients/hour
• Hospital Beds: 273 | ED Beds: 35
• Fast Track: Available
• Admission Rate: 20–25%
• Trauma Designation: Transitioning to Level IV (currently non-designated)
• EMR: Cerner
• Privileges: Standard credentialing timeline (no temporary privileges noted)
• Travel: Included

Clinical Environment

• Full range of Emergency Medicine practice across all acuity levels
• Dedicated ICU with intensivist support
• Subspecialty backup includes: Anesthesiology, Cardiac Cath, CT Surgery, General Surgery, OB/GYN, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, Infectious Disease, Pulmonology, Radiology, Urology, Vascular Surgery, and more
• Referral Resources: Trauma (AUMC), Pediatrics (AUMC), Burn (Doctors Hospital)

Candidate Requirements

• Board Certification: ABEM required
• Licensure: Active South Carolina medical license or willingness to obtain
• Certifications: ACLS & ATLS required
• Experience: Minimum 3+ years Emergency Medicine preferred
• Skills: Full-scope EM physician practice, comfortable collaborating with APCs
