Posting Summary Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Advanced Practice Nurse for the Department of Surgery within New Jersey Medical School. The Advanced Practice Nurse will be an integral member of the Vascular Surgery & Otolaryngology Teams at Rutgers NJMS , providing care to patients, improving efficiency of care, and participating in both quality improvement and clinical research programs. Responsibilities Collect comprehensive patient health data/history including past and present medical, surgical, family and social history. Diagnostic tests and procedures relevant to the patient’s status are collected, interpreted and documented in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Complete the medication reconciliation process by documenting the current list of medications (including over the counter and nutritional supplements) taken by patient at each visit. Perform and document an appropriate comprehensive physical assessment of patients which will include a review of systems, evaluation of manifestations and toxicities related to medical conditions and anticoagulation management. Evaluate patients in the Emergency Department and for inpatient consultations and assist in management of these patients. Critically analyze assessment data/diagnostic tests and determine a diagnosis. In addition, develop a comprehensive plan of care that includes interventions of treatments to attain outcomes. Evaluate laboratory studies and diagnostic tests and provide appropriate interventions as required. Evaluate patient progress in attaining expected treatment outcomes. Monitor for signs and symptoms related to disease progression/recurrence. Salary A maximum of $150,000 is budgeted for this position. Minimum Salary $145,178.00, Mid Range Salary $167,479.00, Maximum Salary $191,311.00. A minimum of two (2) years of clinical nursing experience. Certifications / Licenses Current Registered/Professional Nurse license. Certified as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the state of New Jersey with a specialization as indicated; BLS, CDS and DEA Licenses. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Evidence of excellent interpersonal skills, effective communication skills, and creative problem solving are essential. Physical Demands Position requires standing less than 1/3 of the time, walking about 1/3 of the time, and sitting up to 2/3 of the time. Requires use of hands to finger, handle or feel to 2/3 of the time, reach with hands and arms under 1/3 of the time, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl under 1/3 of the time; talk or hear over 2/3 of the time.
