Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Minimum 2 years of experience - Experience with telemetry and patient care management - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification - National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit. The nurse will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. The role includes interpretation and management of dysrhythmias. Nurses will monitor telemetry patients and respond to changing conditions. Experience with bowel obstruction, colostomy and ileostomy care is required. Skills in feeding tube management and renal failure care are necessary. The position involves blood product administration and central line blood draws. Candidates should have experience with IV management and phlebotomy. Knowledge of oxygen administration and airway management is essential. Isolation precautions and PPE protocols must be understood and practiced. Wound care experience, including the use of wound vacs, is preferred. Charge experience is preferred but not mandatory. ACLS certification is preferred. Experience in telemetry monitoring and electronic documentation is a plus. Previous exposure to community hospital settings will be beneficial. Nurses will care for patients with various diagnoses including diabetes, pneumonia, and renal failure. The unit sees patients recovering from surgeries and those with chronic conditions. There may be a requirement to float to different units as necessary. Every other weekend and holiday work will be required. The nurse must be available to respond during emergencies and disasters.
