Overview This leadership role is responsible for delivering patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses, and Scope & Standards of Practice. The NPI will delegate, direct, and assist licensed and ancillary team members, hold accountability for quality patient outcomes, and promote cultural, ethnic, and religious sensitivity. Education Requirements Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (required) Bachelor’s degree in nursing (preferred) Work Experience Requirements At least one year RN experience (required) At least five years LPN experience (required) ICU and Emergency Department experience appreciated Certifications Required Current RN license in state of practice BLS certification from the American Heart Association (required) ACLS certification—current or to be obtained PALS certification—current or to be obtained Certification in a clinical specialty area (preferred) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) Proficiency in using computers (EPIC), software, and web-based applications Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and professionally to a variety of audiences Excellent organizational and time‑management skills Job Duties and Responsibilities Effectively use the nursing process in the delivery of patient care Assess learning needs and implement teaching strategies for patients, families, and interdisciplinary collaborators Communicate, delegate, and manage nursing team resources—human and fiscal—and serve as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team Use data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change aimed at optimal outcomes Embrace customer satisfaction and employee morale improvement in the nursing profession Adapt behavior to specific patient populations, ensuring privacy, appropriate introductions, clear explanations, permission requests, and suitable communication styles Perform other related duties as required Maintain knowledge of current federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory agency requirements; ensure compliance with all such laws, regulations, and standards Participate in the organization’s compliance and privacy program and standards of conduct, reporting any unethical behavior or compliance concerns Physical and Environmental Demands Job functions require occasional lifting of 50–100 lbs., frequent lifting of 25–50 lbs., and light lifting of 10–20 lbs. The role is classified as light work, requiring prolonged walking or standing, occasional pushing or pulling, and a constant production pace. Exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, communicable diseases, hazardous medications, and waste is inherent to patient care.
