Graphic Designer

POSITION SUMMARY

Supports the Museum’s graphic design needs across multiple departments, including Development, Education, V&V, and Tours. This position is responsible for creating visual materials that advance institutional goals, promote programs and events, and maintain a consistent brand identity across print and digital platforms. The Graphic Designer manages projects from concept through final production, including design, proofing, and preparation for print or digital distribution.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Designs and produces print and digital materials for exhibitions, programs, events, fundraising campaigns, educational initiatives, visitor engagement, and institutional communications Collaborates with staff across departments to develop clear, compelling, and brand-consistent visual materials Manages multiple design projects simultaneously, from concept development through revisions, proofing, and final delivery Prepares production‑ready files for print vendors, publications, signage, marketing materials, and digital platforms Ensures consistency with the Museum’s visual identity, brand standards, and messaging across all materials Coordinates project timelines, priorities, and deadlines with internal stakeholders Reviews and proofs materials for accuracy, quality, and alignment with project goals Maintains organized files, templates, and design assets for ongoing institutional use Works with outside vendors, printers, and other service providers as needed to support production and delivery Serves the Museum as a collaborative team member supporting shared institutional goals

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field preferred 2–4 years of professional graphic design experience preferred Experience in arts, culture, nonprofit, or mission‑driven organizations preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator Strong design skills across both print and digital formats Knowledge of print production processes, proofing, and file preparation Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize projects effectively Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats Ability to collaborate with colleagues across departments and respond to feedback professionally Demonstrates initiative, flexibility, and sound judgment in managing design assignments Ability to maintain brand consistency while adapting materials for different audiences and departmental needs Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires prolonged periods of working on a computer, occasional movement throughout office and Museum spaces, and handling printed materials or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT

This is a full‑time, on‑site position operating in a professional Museum environment. The Graphic Designer works closely with staff across multiple departments and supports a range of projects with competing deadlines and priorities. The role requires extended periods of sitting, working at a computer, and moving between office and program spaces as needed. Standard business hours apply, with occasional additional hours required to support events, production schedules, or departmental deadlines.
