Senior Mechanical Engineer – Custom Automation At Sterling Engineering we’re seeking a senior mechanical engineer to lead the design of high‑precision, custom automation systems. Compensation Base pay range: $55.00/hr – $60.00/hr (or $50–60/hr for contract). Location Lewis Center, OH (100% onsite). Employment Type Full‑time (Contract to Direct Hire) Seniority Level Mid‑Senior level Job Function Design and Engineering Manufacturing Responsibilities Lead mechanical design of automated machinery using SolidWorks. Develop concepts, models, drawings, and manufacturing‑ready documentation. Collaborate with controls, electrical, and manufacturing teams. Perform engineering analysis (GD&T, tolerances, materials, stress). Support build, debug, and commissioning with hands‑on problem solving. Mentor junior engineers and improve design standards. Qualifications 5+ years of mechanical design experience in custom automation or special machinery. Strong SolidWorks expertise and project leadership experience. Deep knowledge of mechanisms, pneumatics, machining, and fabrication. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred). Benefits Medical insurance. Vision insurance. 401(k).
