This position requires an individual who can multitask efficiently. The Laboratory Assistant must be able to accession specimens; order requested testing, label, and process specimens in an accurate and timely fashion. The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for most clerical duties in the laboratory./ph3Essential Job Function/Competencies/h3pResponsibilities include but are not limited to:/pulliOrder required testing, label, and process specimens in an accurately and timely fashion./liliExercises independent judgment in dealing with procedural and technical problems./liliDisposes of hazardous chemical waste per regulatory guidelines./liliComplies with all State, Federal, professional regulations as well as company and departmental rules, polices, and procedural manuals./liliAdherence to CAP (College of American Pathologists), CLIA (Clinica Laboratory Improvement Amendments), State Regulations, HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability), Safety and OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) Regulations./liliParticipates in educational activities./liliMaintains patient confidentiality./liliAct as team player: collaborate, communicate clearly, and cooperate with team members with focus on mission and goals./liliEnhances communications by consistently displaying excellent customer service skills in behavior and attitude./liliPerforms other position related duties as assigned./liliEmployees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations.
