Staff Accountant

Pine Belt Communications | Arlington, Alabama Full-Time | $50,000–$60,000 annually + benefits Pine Belt Communications is seeking a Staff Accountant to join our team in Arlington, Alabama. This is a full-time opportunity for an accounting professional who is organized, detail-oriented, eager to learn, and interested in gaining hands‑on experience across a broad range of accounting and financial functions. The Staff Accountant will report to the Accounting Manager and work closely with other accounting personnel, internal departments, and external partners. The position will provide administrative and financial support across payroll, accounts payable, employee benefits, financial reporting, tax and regulatory filings, audits, and month‑end processes. Key Responsibilities Process payroll and maintain employee payroll, tax, and benefits records Manage employee benefits, including 401(k) and insurance programs Process accounts payable invoices, W-9 verifications, and check runs Post journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts Prepare and submit required regulatory, compliance, and governmental reports Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax reports and remit payments Assist with audits and account reconciliations Assist with financial statement review Support the Accounting Manager with the month‑end closing process Serve as a backup to the Accounting Clerk and Accounting Manager Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as needed Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; an Associate’s degree in Accounting may be considered with the right experience Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines Strong written and verbal communication skills Team-oriented, adaptable, and willing to develop new skills and knowledge Compensation & Benefits The salary range for this position is $50,000–$60,000 annually , plus a comprehensive benefits package that includes employer-paid major medical, health, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage; employer-subsidized dependent coverage; paid holidays; accrued paid time off; and profit sharing with a 401(k) 3% Safe Harbor provision . Location & Schedule This is an in-person position based at Pine Belt Communications’ headquarters at 3984 County Road 32, Arlington, Alabama . Normal office hours are 7:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. , with a one-hour lunch. Occasional overtime may be required. Desired start date As soon as possible.
