Role Description The Experienced Asbestos Lab Analyst role is a full-time, on-site position based in Indianapolis, IN. This role is responsible for analyzing bulk and air samples for asbestos content using approved laboratory methods such as polarized light microscopy (PLM), phase contrast microscopy (PCM), and other relevant techniques. Daily tasks include preparing samples, following strict chain-of-custody procedures, documenting results accurately, and generating clear, compliant analytical reports. The analyst will adhere to laboratory quality assurance and quality control protocols, maintain equipment and calibration records, and comply with all safety and regulatory requirements. The role also involves collaborating with colleagues, meeting turnaround times, and supporting continuous improvements in lab processes and standards. Qualifications Candidates should possess strong asbestos analysis skills, including experience with PLM, PCM, and recognized analytical methods for bulk and air samples. Candidates should possess laboratory operations skills, such as sample preparation, chain-of-custody management, quality assurance/quality control, and equipment maintenance. Candidates should possess data and documentation skills, including accurate recordkeeping, report writing, and adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards. Candidates should possess safety and compliance skills, with knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant environmental and occupational health regulations. Candidates should possess communication and collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively with team members, explain findings clearly, and manage deadlines. Relevant qualifications include prior experience as an asbestos lab analyst or in an environmental testing laboratory, certification or training in asbestos analysis (e.g., NIOSH, NVLAP, or equivalent), and familiarity with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
