The Commercial Lines Underwriter will have the opportunity to grow a book of business by underwriting new commercial business and increasing renewal business through the cultivation of client relationships.Responsibilities:Build, maintain, and grow a book of businessManage agency relationships and serve as lead client contactCreate and execute marketing plans to increase new and renewal businessRate, quote and bind each risk to determine acceptability, coverage, and pricing for large or complex renewals as well as new businessDevelop and submit underwriting referrals to company brokerage facilities and Burns & Wilcox managementMonitor key metrics to formulate corrective action impacting new business hit, renewal retention, premium growth, and loss ratioLead, train, and develop Assistant and Associate UnderwritersQualifications:Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience3+ years of commercial lines underwriting experience required, excess & surplus lines experience preferredDemonstrated proficiency in sales and marketingInsurance license, CPCU, CIC or comparable designations preferredProven organization skills and ability with a strong attention to detailInterest in continued education and professional developmentTravel if necessary in order to foster strong client relationshipsBenefits:Employer paid continuing education courses and designations via access to Kaufman InstituteHealth and welfare benefits including medical, vision and dental401K with employer matchPaid vacation, sick time, and holidaysAccess to Kaufman Wellness ProgramFlexible and hybrid work optionsSalary $100,000 - $150,000 annually plus bonus potentialAbout Our Company:Burns & Wilcox, the flagship organization of H.W.
