The Senior Accountant reports to the Assistant Controller and is responsible for consistent and accurate recording of financial and month-end close transactions in accordance with GAAP, analyzing and reconciling GL account activity on a monthly basis, reviewing entries from Accounts Payable for accuracy and proper GL classification, preparing and managing fixed asset system and assisting in preparation of audit schedules. This position is a back-up for Accounts Payable and Senior Accountant - Treasury functions.

Duties and responsibilities

• Responsible for assisting intimely month-end close process including (but not limited to):
• Prepare and enter alljournal entries, month-end accruals, and depreciation
• Account and reconcile fixedasset system to GL
• Review Accounts Payableinput for accuracy, proper description and proper GL classification
• Review Purchase Orders forproper accrual and classification
• Analyze GL accounts forproper expense/revenue classifications
• Analyze and reconcilebalance sheet and intercompany accounts
• Responsible for revenueaccounting related to operating wind facility
• Responsible for reconcilingthe calculation of easement payments and lease obligations
• Serving as back-up forAccounts Payable, assisting as needed to meet department deadlines
• Assisting in impairmentcalculations as needed
• Responsible for preparationof audit schedules, reconciling schedules to support GL
• Cross train for SeniorAccountant - Treasury to assist in treasury functions when needed
• Assisting Management withspecial projects and tasks as needed
• Analyze budget-to-actualvariances
• Assist in preparation ofvarious tax filing reporting requirements (e.g., EEL, GST, local taxes,annual surveys, etc.)

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree inAccounting
• 5-7 years of accountingexperience, Public/Private experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of GAAP andmulti-company experience, such as (but not limited to) consolidation,foreign currency reporting, cash flows, partnership accounting
• System implementationexperience a plus
• General knowledge of US taxregulations. Canadian tax regulation a plus

• High attention to detail andexcellent organizational skills
• Strong Excel skills utilizingcomplex spreadsheets
• NetSuite, Sage/Timberline orGreat Plains experience a plus, but not required
• Strong team player focused onorganizational goals
• Strong communication skills(ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing)
• Strong interpersonal skills(ability to develop and maintain good relationships with others)
• Effectively prioritizeworkflow and stay on top of constantly changing priorities and projects
