Payroll Manager

Job Overview King & Spalding is a leading global law firm committed to excellence and innovation. We are seeking a Payroll Manager to join our team in Atlanta. Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise U.S. and International Payroll Coordinators. Process domestic and foreign payrolls, review, audit, and approve all payrolls, funding requests, and routine tasks. Ensure separation of duties and financial controls. Monitor interfaces between payroll systems and other administrative systems such as General Ledger, Workday, and InTapp. Provide payroll support to the CHRO and Associate Director Global Payroll. Train, evaluate, and manage staff. Plan and implement payroll process changes for new offices. Maintain payroll calendars and manage year‑end tasks. Maintain payroll data within Workday and supervise G/L interfaces. Clear payroll checks and reconcile bank accounts with Finance. Prepare and import special earnings such as bonuses or stipends. Audit payroll data accuracy (tax jurisdictions, deductions, new hires). Analyze iTimekeep billable OT hours versus Time & Attendance hours and resolve differences. Research and implement payroll changes for tax law updates. Configure and run ad‑hoc reports. Prepare and process Profit Sharing – 401(k) contribution files. Maintain documentation for payroll procedures and time & attendance procedures. Qualifications Strong PC and electronic spreadsheet skills at an intermediate level. Attention to detail and ability to apply procedures and policies. Strong people skills and ability to lead a team. Bachelor’s degree preferred (not required). Professional Payroll Certification (e.g., CPP) preferred. Workday Payroll experience preferred. At least 5 years of payroll experience with supervisory responsibilities. Experience with GL & reconciliation. Domestic and international payroll preparation experience. Familiarity with wage & hour, ERISA, EEOC, FMLA, FLSA, and other regulations. Work experience in a legal or professional services environment preferred. Additional Requirements Exempt position; must be available for additional hours as required. Must work at least 3 days per week on site at K&S office in Atlanta. Physical requirement: lifting up to 25-pound cartons.
