Major Functions The Adult Nurse Practitioner provides healthcare for clients admitted in residential treatment, performing history and physicals, medical evaluations, and, when necessary, medical assessments. The ANP assesses and stabilizes medical conditions that are impacted by the individual’s history of substance use. The ANP is responsible for managing ancillary withdrawal, managing addiction medications, providing consumer education and making referrals for specialty care according to medical necessity. Specific Duties & Responsibilities Examine and evaluate all scheduled clients. Provide healthcare according to generally accepted standards for care. Evaluate clients for medical appropriateness for admission into the substance use disorder treatment. Treat ancillary withdrawal and prescribe addiction medications where appropriate. Triage clients when applicable. Monitor consumer response to all treatments and confer with Medical Director as needed. Conferring with collateral service providers regarding clients to maintain continuity of care. Ensure that appropriate medical follow-up is occurring. Document provision of all services in the clinical record, assuring all notes are entered in chronological order, and are legible, signed and dated. Write, adjust and discontinue standing medication orders. Follow generally accepted standards of professional practice and medical ethics at all times. Provide consumer education regarding self‑care and adherence for chronic diseases. Maintain acceptable level of productivity as set by Medical Director. Follow all Odyssey House medical records policies and procedures. Ensure services provided are reasonable and necessary. Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and case conferences. Attend all required in‑service training seminars. Participate in quality improvement activities. Other relevant duties as required. Requirements Currently licensed as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of New York. Current DEA#, Infection Control Certification. Board Certified Preferred. Holds a federal DATA 2000 waiver (buprenorphine‑certified). In good standing with New York State Department of Education Professional Licensing Boards and without any outstanding malpractice judgments. Advanced Nursing Degree from an accredited College or University. Patient, supportive demeanor, able to work with challenging patient population. This position will require availability as needed including on‑call responsibilities.
