Job Summary Under the general direction of the Senior Psychologist, CF (Supervisor), or Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker I, CF, the Recreation Therapist (RT), CF develops, implements, and evaluates therapeutic recreation programs for patients within California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation institutions. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and evaluate therapeutic recreation programs for patients. Instruct and motivate patients in individual and group recreation therapy. Monitor and document treatment progress. Work with other healthcare providers to share recreational therapy assessment information and incorporate recreational activities into treatment plans. Maintain order and supervise patients to protect and maintain safety of persons and property. Qualifications Education equivalent to graduation from a recognized college with a major in recreation or recreation therapy. The major must have included supervised field work. Evidence of graduation or equivalent and completion of required field work. Benefits Classification is subject to Section 5, Hiring‑Above‑Minimum (HAM) Authorization. Authorized HAM rate: $9,159. $10,000 one‑time recruitment and retention stipend, if eligible. Monthly recruitment and retention differential for the first year, totaling $5,000. $5,000 referral bonus for employees who remain employed with CCHCS for 90 days.
