Outpatient Registered Nurse - RN - Dialysis

Area Float Position Registered Nurse (Outpatient RN CAP 2) providing clinical care in the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) team. This entry‑level designation may be achieved upon meeting the RN CAP 2 criteria or through advancement from RN CAP 1. The RN is responsible for delivering and coordinating safe, effective hemodialysis therapy and related nursing care. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Collect and analyze patient data pre‑, during‑, and post‑hemodialysis; document results in the medical record and adjust treatment plans as indicated. Assess patient and family learning needs; provide initial and ongoing education. Direct and support staff (RNs, LVN/LPNs, Patient Care Technicians) in daily delivery of hemodialysis therapy. Administer medications per protocol; record justification and effectiveness. Initiate or assist with emergency response measures. Serve as a mentor and role model, demonstrating appropriate behavior and attitudes toward patients, co‑workers, supervisors, and the company. Ensure correct laboratory collection, processing, and shipping; reschedule missed or inadequate collections. Document expected outcomes, update nursing assessment and plan of care within the interdisciplinary team. Educate patients on transplant and treatment modality options. Participate in quality improvement projects and education initiatives directed by the supervisor. Act as a preceptor for new employees and complete CAP requirements to maintain or advance. Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor. Physical Demands and Working Conditions Direct patient care involving heavy lifting, moving patients, and assisting with ambulation. Frequent, prolonged standing and bending over. May need to move equipment and machines up to 200lbs; lift chemical and water solutions up to 30lbs up to 5ft. Work in a controlled indoor environment with moderate noise levels; may be exposed to infectious materials. Includes desk and computer work, interaction with patients, facility staff, and physicians. May require travel to training sites or other facilities. Education and Licensure Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Current and appropriate state nursing licensure. Current or successful completion of CPR/BLS certification. Must meet state practice requirements for employment location. Experience and Required Skills Entry‑level RN with a minimum of 2 years of nephrology nursing experience. Must have completed all FKC education and training requirements for new employees. Minimum of 3 months experience in chronic/acute hemodialysis as an RN.
