Position Summary Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) Heart South – 1022 North 1st Street, Suite 500, Alabaster, AL 35007 Full-Time | Day Shift Position Summary Heart South is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to provide direct patient care under the supervision of a Physician or Advanced Practice Provider (APP) in an ambulatory care setting. This role supports clinical operations by assisting with patient preparation, examinations, procedures, and documentation while delivering exceptional patient-centered care. Baptist Health Offers Great NEW Competitive Pay and Great Benefits Package that Includes: Medical, Dental, Vision 403(b) Retirement Savings Plan Health Savings Account (HSA) Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Paid Time Off (up to 5 weeks to start) Life Insurance Extended Leave Plan (ELP) Family Care (childcare, elder care, pet care) Paid Parental Leave Pet Insurance Car Insurance Educational Benefits including tuition reimbursement & monthly payments to help pay down any graduated school debt ALL BENEFITS START DAY ONE Responsibilities Key Responsibilities Perform patient care activities under the direction of the physician or APP Gather patient data through interviews and observation Prepare patients and families for examinations and procedures Assist providers during exams and clinical procedures Administer approved medications and perform routine treatments per scope of practice Document patient information, treatments, procedures, and education in the electronic medical record Enter medication, laboratory, and diagnostic imaging orders as directed by providers Manage inbound and outbound phone calls using sound clinical judgment Coordinate scheduling for specialty testing and provider referrals Collaborate with clinical, administrative, and operations teams Support infection control, patient safety, and quality improvement initiatives Maintain compliance with all organizational, clinical, and regulatory standards Qualifications Education & Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required Successful completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program OR At least one (1) year of verifiable Medical Assistant experience in a patient care setting Licensure & Certifications Current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification required Current Medical Assistant certification or registration from one of the following (or equivalent): CMA (AAMA) CCMA (NHA) RMA (AMT or equivalent) NCMA (NCCT) NRCMA/NRCAMA (NAHP) Other recognized MA certifications considered on a case-by-case basis Experience No prior experience required #J-18808-Ljbffr
