Position Summary

AMS is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our Peoria Advanced campus. This role works closely with students families general education teachers and support staff to provide individualized instruction and services aligned with students Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized instruction and support to students with IEPs based on their individual academic behavioral and developmental needs
• Develop implement monitor and update IEP goals in accordance with student needs and applicable requirements
• Differentiate instruction to support students performing at varying academic and developmental levels
• Use student performance data assessments and progress monitoring to evaluate growth and adjust instruction and interventions as needed
• Maintain accurate documentation of student progress services accommodations and IEP requirements
• Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) accommodations modifications and other individualized student supports
• Collaborate with general education teachers paraprofessionals related service providers administrators and other members of the student support team
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress goals services and areas of support
• Participate in and contribute to IEP meetings multidisciplinary team meetings and parent conferences
• Establish and maintain a structured positive and inclusive classroom environment
• Utilize PBIS and preventative intervention strategies to support students behavioral and social-emotional development
• Participate in professional development professional learning communities and school-based meetings
• Collaborate with school and network teams to continuously improve instructional practices and student outcomes

Minimum Qualifications

• Arizona State Certification in Special Education
• Minimum of a Bachelors degree in Education OR a Bachelors degree in a related field with at least two years of K8 teaching experience
• Knowledge of IEP development implementation progress monitoring and special education services
• Ability to differentiate instruction and provide individualized support based on student needs
• Strong communication organization collaboration and documentation skills
• Commitment to supporting Title I multilingual and diverse student populations
• Ability to successfully complete required background checks and obtain/maintain an Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
