Brock & Scott, PLLC is seeking a motivated Associate Attorney licensed in West Virginia to join our growing legal team. This position is responsible for handling foreclosure and creditors' rights matters on behalf of the Firm's clients while providing high-quality legal representation, responsive client service, and effective case management.

The ideal candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, comfortable managing a high-volume caseload, and able to independently move matters forward while working collaboratively with attorneys, clients, courts, and internal business partners.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage foreclosure matters from referral through resolution, including contested and uncontested proceedings.
• Prepare, review, and approve pleadings, motions, affidavits, orders, notices, and other legal documents.
• Represent clients in court hearings, mediations, depositions, conferences, and other legal proceedings as required.
• Analyze case files, title information, loan documents, and supporting records to identify legal issues and determine appropriate next steps.
• Provide legal guidance regarding foreclosure processes, procedural requirements, compliance concerns, and applicable state and federal law.
• Maintain responsibility for a high-volume caseload while ensuring deadlines, court requirements, and client expectations are met.
• Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status, strategy, legal developments, and recommended action.
• Work closely with Firm staff and operational teams to resolve file-level issues and promote timely case progression.
• Identify potential legal, procedural, or compliance concerns and escalate matters appropriately.
• Maintain accurate and timely updates within Firm and client case-management systems.
• Participate in client meetings, training sessions, and Firm initiatives as needed.
• Perform other duties, special projects, and legal assignments as required.

Position Requirements

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
• Active membership in good standing with the West Virginia State Bar required.
• Foreclosure, creditors' rights, real estate, civil litigation, bankruptcy, or mortgage-servicing experience preferred.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
• Ability to independently manage and prioritize a high-volume caseload.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and internal teams.
• Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
• Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to providing exceptional client service and producing high-quality legal work.
• Ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently while exercising sound legal judgment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn Firm and client case-management systems.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently while contributing to a collaborative team focused on delivering timely, accurate, and effective legal solutions for our clients.

Benefits Detail: Brock & Scott, PLLC offers an attractive benefit package to full-time employees on the 1st of the following month of hire. The insurance portion includes medical, dental, voluntary life, voluntary vision, and critical illness, all at competitive rates. At the 90-day introductory period, the Firm also provides a basic life insurance policy in the amount of one time your annual salary (with a minimum of $25,000 and a maximum of $200,000.00) at no cost.

Full-time attorneys receive paid holidays, including six (6) firm-recognized holidays and one (1) Day of Observance, as well as a premium PTO package of 18 days per year. PTO accrues monthly and is credited on the 15th of each month, in accordance with firm policy. PTO benefits increase after 2 years of employment and again after 5 years of employment. After six months of service, employees over the age of 21 become eligible to participate in the firm's 401(k) plan at the beginning of the next quarter.

Pre-Employment Requirements: Employment with Brock & Scott, PLLC is contingent upon the successful completion of all required pre-employment screenings and verifications, which may include, but are not limited to, a criminal background check, conflict of interest check, employment and education verification (as applicable), and a pre-employment drug screening. Drug testing is conducted only after a conditional offer of employment has been extended and in accordance with applicable federal, state, and local laws.
