Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (7:30 PM – 7:00 AM) | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care on a 48-bed Medical Surgical unit with a typical night shift nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:6 (may start at 1:5)
• Manage and care for patients with common diagnoses including pneumonia, heart failure, sepsis, COPD, urologic conditions, surgical recovery, total joints, general surgery, and occasional pediatric respiratory illness
• Monitor telemetry strips independently on each shift
• Oversee and collaborate with Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) through three daily touchpoints, ensuring completion of nursing cares such as Foley care, CHG bathing, and oral cares; touchpoints should include plan of care review
• Manage patients on BiPAP (home regimen, stable and alert) and high-flow oxygen as needed; RNs are not required to titrate drips
• Adhere to weekend requirements (up to 4 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule) and every 3rd holiday rotation

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification — required
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification — required
• Ability to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for standard contract rates

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum 2 years of Medical Surgical RN experience preferred
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred
• Strong teamwork and communication skills, particularly in collaborating with PCT staff and interdisciplinary teams
