Position Purpose:    

The Athletic Trainer is responsible for providing direct patient care for urgent, emergent, or potential health problems. Athletic Trainers understand orthopedic concepts and participate in the organization and management of the practice.

Essential Responsibilities (Occupational Exposure):

• Provide optimal healthcare to student-athletes by providing coverage within the designated school facility, at practices, and events.
• Perform assessments, provide initial care for athletic injuries, and coordinate rehabilitation with team physicians, sports medicine staff, coaches, and strength and conditioning staff.
• Apply splints, braces, tape and ace wraps, change dressings, remove sutures and staples, remove casts, and provide crutch training.
• Follow clinic policies for infection control in handling and disposing of hazardous/infectious waste materials.
• Performs concussion testing.
• Understand and adhere to OSHA requirements for workplace safety to protect against potential exposure to bodily fluids and workplace injuries.
• Cleaning and maintenance of exam rooms.
• Travel to various work locations as required.
• Special projects or other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements:

• Master’s degree in healthcare/athletic training.
• Current certification in Athletic Training by the Board of Certification and licensure as an Athletic Trainer in the state of facility.
• Valid State Driver’s License.
• Continue medical education/complete CEUs.
• Knowledge of physical therapy patient care practices.
• Work schedule may include irregular days, evenings and weekends.

Preferred Requirements:

• Previous experience in healthcare setting.

• Mankato office: 1431 Premier Drive | Mankato, MN 56001
• Full-time position M-F 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. with flexibility.
• Reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work.
