PSS in Training

Summary The PSS (in training) is responsible for the provision of hands on care and services to meet identified resident needs. This includes coordination with other CNA/CRMA/PSS staff, implementation of the interdisciplinary service plan for each resident, reporting changes to resident condition and documenting resident physical ability to perform self-care. The PSS observes, documents, and reports all aspects of resident activities of daily living to ensure appropriate level of care and placement. The PSS works with the assistance of a preceptor/mentor, the direction of the RCC or Quality Care Coordinator and under the supervision and guidance of the RN to maintain the highest levels of physical, psychological, social and spiritual well-being in accordance with the resident service plan and current standards of care. Requirements Education, Training or Certifications Required Must be 18 years old, PSS certification or recertification within 120 days of hire date. Experience Required One or more years experience in geriatrics. Familiarity with memory loss care. Special Requirements BLS within 120 days of hire date Basic computer skills preferred. Cognitive Requirements Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and in writing. Additional languages preferred. Ability for high performance under stressful situations. Must be able to prioritize, multi-tak and follow through Physical Demands Able to stand/work for most of an 8-12 hour shift.
