Food Service Worker 1The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), Hollidaysburg Veterans' Home is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Food Service Worker 1 to join our team and provide culinary services in our long-term care facility for veterans and their spouses. As a Food Service Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:Meal Preparation: Prepare food items, beverages, and nourishments using correct portionsTray Assembly: Assemble trays according to diet requirements and GeriMenu instructionsCart Operations: Load, transport, and unload food carts for snacks, meals, and beveragesSanitation Tasks: Clean dishes, equipment, furniture, floors, and food preparation areasRecord Keeping: Record inventories, temperatures, meal counts, and other required informationSafety Procedures: Follow safety rules, report hazards, and use protective equipment when neededInterested in learning more? Check your email, including spam/junk folders, for these notices.QualificationsAdditional Requirements:You must be able to perform essential job functions.Preferred Qualifications (not required):Willing and able to work in Duncansville, Blair County, PennsylvaniaWilling and able to work a part-time scheduleWilling and able to work varied hours with rotating days and weekendsFood service experience in an assisted living facility, nursing home, hospital, restaurant, or other food service operationWork experience interacting with patients, residents, or customers while serving food/cleaning in patient/resident rooms or a dining room settingWork experience with food safety and sanitation in a dietary departmentExperience in the following tasks:Cleaning, washing, peeling, slicing, and dicing food itemsUsing kitchen equipment such as VCM, food processor, tabletop chopper, and garbage disposalChopping, dicing, and slicing meats, poultry, fish, and cheesesHeating simple foods such as eggs, sandwiches, and hamburgersPreparing sandwiches, assembling salads, and serving portions, including dessertsPlating and serving meals from hot food cartCleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans, work surfaces, and other kitchen itemsTransporting and assisting in loading and unloading food delivery trucks from kitchen and dining roomsTransporting food and supplies to and from freezers, refrigerators, and storeroomSelective menu, taking food orders, waitressing, and dining room serviceFood cart and dining room serving area set upReading meal and tray tickets or tagsTray assembly and working on a tray lineOperating commercial kitchen equipmentLegal Requirements:A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
