LPN – Medication Management Nurse

The LPN Medication Management Nurse is responsible for providing the highest degree of quality care and services by performing regular medication audits, annual medication peer reviews and by providing training and education to housing staff responsible for overseeing participants who self – administer medication.

Includes the following as well as other duties that may be assigned:

• Assists the Program Nurse (RN) with the development and administration of organization's policies and procedures in alignment with the requirements of the agency's accrediting body and primary funding sources in cooperation with other agency departments.
• Ensures that the operations of day-to-day medication management related services are adequately delivered to function in the most effective and efficient manner to meet the needs of the persons served.
• Maintains all necessary records, reports, and training tools to acquaint all employees with an adequate understanding of the functioning of the medication management services as required.
• Monitors timely submission of reports and input of required program information into agency databases (i.e., KIPU).
• Reviews and tracks all medication management service activities; and recommend changes in them, or better utilization as needed.
• Works with Program Nurse, Medical Director and the Clinical Director as needed.
• Participates actively in the planning for staff development needs of medication management services as required by licensing or accrediting organizations.
• Oversees operation of the medication management for the participants; and recommends procedures changes, or other courses of action to improve the delivery of care to them.
• Makes community and outreach contacts with outside medical and healthcare professionals to build collaborative relationships with professional partners who can provide education or training to participants and staff on smoking cessation, diabetes, obesity, heart disease, and/or health and wellness.
• Represents agency at outside meetings and functions as needed.
• Maintains awareness and knowledge of current trends, and techniques guiding the medical services of care for consumers in the behavioral health field.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license (State of Georgia or eligible)
• Nursing or healthcare background preferred with 2-4 years' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combinations of education and experience. Substance Abuse and Mental Health training plus.
• A Nursing degree from an accredited college or university.
• Current CPR certification.

Must be able to pass background screening, which includes fingerprinting and drug testing.

• Must have a good 3-year Motor Vehicle Report.
• Must maintain CEUs for licenses.
• Current/Valid State of Georgia driver's license with a good driving record.

Physical Requirements Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the job which may require long periods of sitting, standing, stooping, bending, twisting, reaching, pulling/pushing, grasping, repetitive motions, walking up and down stairs, use of telephone, working under pressure and working rapidly for long periods. Position requires close work; finger dexterity; good vision, hearing, and oral communication.
