The Job As a per diem Emergency Credentialed Veterinary Technician, you’ll be on the front lines of emergency veterinary care where every second counts. You’ll handle a wide range of cases, from minor to complex emergencies, collaborating with doctors and the team to deliver gold-standard, emotionally intelligent care. You’ll participate in triage, treatments, diagnostics, anesthesia, monitoring, and critical care nursing while remaining a steady, compassionate presence for pet parents in stressful moments. This role is for someone who wants to do the work they were trained to do—and more—while continuing to grow and help people and their pets when they need it most. What You'll Do Treat every patient and person like they matter—support both people and pets through tests, treatments, and everything in between Deliver nursing care, treatments, and emotional support in critical moments, from triage to discharge Provide meds, monitoring, and mastery—from IVs and CRIs to blood transfusions and beyond Communicate effectively as a teammate and think like a leader to shape plans and keep care flowing Be ready to perform CPR; we offer training and have a high number of RECOVER CPR professionals and instructors Handle diagnostics, imaging, sample collection, and tubing placement Administer anesthesia, including for more fragile patients Utilize advanced techniques in your toolkit: central lines, endoscopy, ultrasounds, and more What You Need High school diploma or equivalent; an associate’s degree or higher in veterinary technology from an AVMA-accredited program is strongly preferred Credentialed as a veterinary technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) in the state of VEG practice; VTS in ECC, internal medicine, or anesthesia/analgesia is a plus and may affect compensation 1+ years of experience as a veterinary technician; emergency or specialty medicine experience is preferred Basic computer skills and familiarity with practice management software and electronic medical records Excellent communication and the ability to stay calm under pressure Fine motor skills for handling patients and equipment Ability to stand for prolonged periods, kneel, work on the floor, and lift up to 25 kg (assistance to 40 kg) Willingness to work in a noisy environment with strong odors Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays on a rotating or as-needed basis Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with diverse colleagues Who You Are Empathetic and people-centric, with a mindset to support colleagues and understand different perspectives Humility, willingness to share credit, and a focus on lifting up the team Ownership mentality and commitment to achieving long-term, impactful results Curious by nature, seeking opportunities to learn and grow How We Invest in You Competitive compensation: $27.00–$68.00 per hour Flexible work schedules to support life outside of work Generous employee referral program Perks like comfortable scrubs, VEG swag, and food in the fridge for when you’re hungry DEI At VEG, diversity is a strength that fuels innovation and kindness.
