Diesel Technician

Diesel Mechanic Location: Marshall, MI Position: Summer Help! Shift: Mon - Friday, 1st Shift Pay: $23 per hour Hours: 1st Monday - Friday Requirements: Servicing gasoline and diesel-powered buses, from basic maintenance and minor repairs to full vehicle service. Diagnose mechanical defects and carry out preventive maintenance programs. Perform major and minor overhauls of engines and transmissions. Service and maintain brakes, air compressors, fuel systems, ignitions, HVAC systems, and wheelchair lifts. Service and maintain vehicle air conditioning units. Inspect and repair school buses according to DOT requirements. Keep records of time and materials used. Education and Work Experience: Experience with medium-duty buses; International Truck/Bus preferred. Must have own set of tools. Knowledge of codes and laws related to pupil transportation (e.g., IDOT inspections). CDL Class B License with air brake endorsement preferred. A/C Certification. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with customers and team members. Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and maintain a positive attitude while providing excellent customer service. Ability to work independently and complete assignments timely. Physical Requirements: Ability to perform essential job functions safely and successfully, complying with ADA, FMLA, and other standards. Maintain regular, punctual attendance. Clear communication skills, including talking, listening, and speaking on the phone. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
