Job Title: Wireman / Electrical Technician

Job Description

This role focuses on assembling and wiring custom electrical control panel boxes used in water and wastewater control systems. You will perform start-ups, testing, and troubleshooting of complex control panels, working from diagrams and blueprints to ensure accurate component placement and reliable system performance.

Responsibilities:

• Assemble custom and complex electrical control panel boxes for water and wastewater control systems.
• Read and interpret electrical blueprints, diagrams, and wiring schematics to determine proper component locations.
• Install and mount blocks, buttons, switches, lights, and other panel components using general hand tools.
• Wire control panels point-to-point from electrical schematics, ensuring neat, accurate, and safe wiring practices.
• Perform electrical assembly and panel building, including low-voltage and multi-phase power connections.
• Work with 480V 3-phase, 230V 3-phase, and 120V single-phase power within control panels.
• Install and connect Schneider contactors, overloads, circuit breakers, relays, time delay devices, and related control equipment.
• Conduct testing and quality control (QC) checks on completed panels to verify proper operation and safety.
• Troubleshoot electrical issues within control panels and make necessary corrections or repairs.
• Collaborate with a small team in a production environment to meet project timelines and quality standards.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area and follow all safety procedures while working with electrical systems.
• Use personal hand tools such as screwdrivers, wire strippers, and drills to perform daily tasks.

Required:

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints for custom and complex electrical control panels.
• Minimum of 3 years of control panel wiring or electrical panel building experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of electrical assembly experience.
• Proficiency in wiring control panels from schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Experience with point-to-point wiring and electrical panel layout.
• Hands-on experience working with 480V 3-phase, 230V 3-phase, and 120V single-phase power.
• Knowledge of Schneider contactors, overloads, circuit breakers, relays, and time delay devices.
• Strong electrical wiring and assembly skills in a production environment.
• Ability to perform testing and quality control on completed electrical products.
• Capability to troubleshoot and resolve electrical issues in control panels.
• Possession of basic personal tools, including screwdrivers, wire strippers, and a drill.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience building and wiring control panels for water and wastewater systems.
• Comfort working with low-voltage circuits and mechanical aspects of panel assembly.
• Ability to read and work from detailed wiring schematics and diagrams.
• Background in electrical panel building, panel wiring, and electrical assembly in a shop environment.
• Experience in a production setting with organized workflows and quality standards.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing clean, well-organized panel builds.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a small, tight-knit team.

Work Environment

You will work in a non-climate-controlled shop alongside a team of approximately 56 employees in a family-owned, tight-knit setting. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with occasional Saturday shifts from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The facility is clean and organized, focused on production of electrical control panels, and you will regularly use standard hand tools and electrical components in a collaborative, hands-on environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Houston, TX 77070.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
