Interdisciplinary General Engineer/Operations Research Analyst

This position is part of the Department of Defense (DoD), Missile Defense Agency (MDA). The incumbent will be responsible for managing the daily coordination, integration, and synchronization of flight test activities in support of the Mission Test Director. Qualifications – NH NH-03 Broadband Level Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the NH-02/GS-11 grade level in the Federal service and must meet **two** of the following specialized experience criteria: Managing engineering test programs of complex weapon systems for an organization. Consulting on complex weapon system testing, subsystems and components. Advising on the integration of complex weapon systems. Developing test concepts, policies and standards to support the verification, validation, and accreditation of core models. 0801 Series – Degree Requirements A. Degree: Engineering – The program must either: lead to a bachelor's degree in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by ABET; or include differential and integral calculus and courses more advanced than first‑year physics and chemistry in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: statics, dynamics; strength of materials (stress‑strain relationships); fluid mechanics, hydraulics; thermodynamics; electrical fields and circuits; nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. B. Combination of education and experience – This may include college‑level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnishes a thorough knowledge of the physical and mathematical sciences underlying engineering and a good understanding of engineering sciences and techniques applied to one of the branches of engineering. Adequacy can be demonstrated by one of the following: Professional registration or licensure – Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico. Written Test – Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board. Specified academic courses – Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences, including those specified in paragraph A. Related curriculum – Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field (e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology) may be accepted if the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience under professional engineering supervision and guidance. 1515 Series – Degree and Coursework Requirements Degree in operations research, or at least 24 semester hours in operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, or related fields, with at least three of those hours in calculus. Applicants should demonstrate competence in rigorous scientific inquiry and analysis, with knowledge of applied mathematics and fundamental concepts of operations research methods. Courses acceptable for qualifying may have been taken in departments such as Engineering, Science, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or Management Science. Illustrative courses include optimization, mathematical modeling, queuing theory, econometrics, psychometrics, biometrics, experimental psychology, and other quantitative analysis courses requiring college‑level mathematics or statistics. Experience Considerations Both paid and voluntary experience, including volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations, is considered.
