Position Summary

Our Early Childhood Program is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, and engaging Physical Education (Gym) Teacher to lead developmentally appropriate movement classes for children ages 1–4 years old . The ideal candidate will have experience in physical education and a passion for helping young children develop gross motor skills, coordination, confidence, and a lifelong love of movement.

Classes are held twice a week, with each class lasting 30 minutes . The instructor will plan and lead fun, age-appropriate activities that encourage physical development through games, obstacle courses, music, movement, and cooperative play.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and teach engaging 30-minute physical education classes for children ages 1–4.
  • Develop age-appropriate activities that promote:
    • Gross motor development
    • Balance and coordination
    • Strength and flexibility
    • Spatial awareness
    • Listening and following directions
    • Teamwork and social skills
  • Create a safe, positive, and inclusive environment where every child can participate and succeed.
  • Set up and put away equipment before and after each class.
  • Modify activities to meet the developmental needs of each age group.
  • Communicate and collaborate with classroom teachers regarding lesson objectives and student participation.
  • Ensure all activities follow school safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized gym or movement space.
Qualifications
  • Experience in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Recreation, Coaching, Dance, or a related field required.
  • Experience working with young children (ages 1–4) is strongly preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain) preferred.
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
  • Creative, energetic, patient, and dependable.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating with school staff.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to actively demonstrate physical activities throughout each class.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds .
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, run, and move quickly with young children.
  • Ability to stand and remain active for the duration of each shift.
