What You'll Do

The Traveling Technician works as a member of the project team primarily responsible for enhancing overall jobsite productivity, safety and quality. They will be expected to travel for up to 2 weeks at a time. The Technician assists with multiple aspects of the structured cable installation process including pathway construction, rough-in, routing, Telecommunication Room build-out, cable terminations, labeling, and bonding in accordance to existing standards.

• Assist the project team with installation activities as needed.
• Proactively maintain jobsite organization and basic housekeeping. Organize materials, tools, and equipment, collect debris, and ensure hazardous conditions are promptly addressed.
• Read and interpret floorplans, drawings, specifications, and cutsheets.
• Know about the different materials and methodologies involved with the installation of a structured cabling system.
• Travel: This position is expected to travel in certain regions for 2 weeks at a time, could require frequent (50%+) overnight and extended out-of-town travel in others. The individual in this role should be able and willing to travel as required by E2 Optics.

What We Are Looking For

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 1 year work experience in structured cabling or industry related construction.
• OSHA 10 within first 2 weeks in role.
• BICSI Installer 2 Fiber certification preferred. Must be earned once hired, (to qualify for Tech III)
• Read, write, and understand English.
• Able to distinguish color codes

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The standard work environment for this position is an indoors business office and construction environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. This role requires sitting, use of hands and arms, verbal communication, and occasional physical movement such as stooping or kneeling. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee must regularly carry and climb ladders to 20 feet. Must be able to operate equipment such as scissor lifts, telehandlers, boom lifts, and UTVs (buggies) if required to do so. The employee may also be required to work in tight and confined spaces. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
