The American Heart Association’s Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands‑on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non‑profit, voluntary health organization. Internship Overview Time Commitment: 20–25 hours per week Internship Duration: September 08, 2026 – December 11, 2026 Location: Tulsa, OK or immediate surrounding area Salary: $23.00 per hour Internship Outcomes Gain important and practical job skills to be successful in a non‑profit environment. Responsibilities Assist with the development and implementation of fundraising activities, logistics, and administrative support for the Tulsa market. Work with Development Coordinators, Development Directors, and Market Leadership to support the Go Red for Women and Heart Ball fundraising campaigns. Assist with pre‑campaign planning and post‑campaign wrap‑up projects. Execute external calls and emails to donors, volunteers, and third‑party vendors. Manage data entry and run reports within event support systems as needed. Develop and update marketing materials for campaigns, including save‑the‑dates, invitations, social‑media posts, volunteer rosters, and other collateral. Assist with volunteer management, including prep for and attendance at externally‑facing meetings (both in‑person and virtual) and board meetings. Conduct prospect research to generate new leads and compile information for fundraising campaigns. Support community impact events such as pop‑up health events and hands‑only CPR demonstrations. Qualifications Seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, marketing, event planning, non‑profit management, public relations, or a related field are preferred. Experience with public speaking and engaging with the community in group settings and one‑on‑one interactions. Comfortable with vendor outreach (phone calls and emails to vendors & donors). Interest or experience in promotion, sales, or fundraising. Demonstrated skills in effective one‑on‑one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff. Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities across multiple entities. Intermediate to excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Canva. Reliable transportation. Reliable Wi‑Fi connection. Minimum availability of 20 hrs/week, Monday‑Friday between 8:30 am‑5 pm. Legal authorization to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future.
