Description: The unit has a total of 35 beds and employs 160 staff members. Day shift typically includes 2 charge nurses, 24 RNs, 5 Surgical Techs, 1 OR Aide, 1 Transport Tech, 1 Secretary, and 1 scheduler. Night shift encompasses 2 charge nurses, 21 RNs, 4 Surgical Techs, 1 OR Aide, 1 Secretary. Patient ratios are 1:1 or 2:1 for laboring patients, 2:1 for the Antepartum unit, and 2:1 for the PACU. Equipment used includes Hill-Rom birthing beds, Alaris IV pumps, GE core metrics fetal monitors, Panda warmers, CADD Solis epidural pumps, and NOVI wireless fetal monitors. Electronic medical records are maintained using CPN (Centricity) and Meditech. Most recruited for are Travel RNs and local CNAs or sitters. Candidates must have AWHONN Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring certification, BLS, ACLS, and NRP. Preferred candidates will have experience with OR Circulation for Cesarean Sections and the placement of FSE and IUPC. Common procedures on the unit include Vaginal Deliveries, Cesarean Sections, PACU recovery, Antepartum care/testing, and Continuous Electronic Fetal Monitoring. Dress code requires royal blue scrubs. Policies and protocols related to Pitocin, Cervical Ripening, Magnesium Sulfate, Hydralazine, and Labetalol are in place. The unit has a recognition for the Baby-Friendly designation. The unit features a 13-bed Client Assessment Center for the triage of pregnant patients. Ancillary services are available 24/7, including Anesthesia, Neonatal, Laborist, and Hospitalist support.
