Teacher of Special Education

We are currently seeking a Teacher of the Handicapped or Teacher of Students with Disabilities for a full-time permanent placement position in the Hainesport, NJ area. The teacher will provide direct instruction to students in accordance with each of their Individual Education Plans. Candidates must hold a New Jersey State certification as a Teacher of the Handicapped, Teacher of Students with Disabilities, and be highly qualified in the area of instruction.Responsibilities:Actively participate in ongoing quality improvement activities including but not limited to: serving as a member of a quality improvement team, customer input, incident/accident and client grievance review, peer record review and program evaluation/quality improvement projectsMaintain accurate daily attendance records and perform other record keeping functionsMaintain appropriate classroom discipline and provision of an atmosphere conducive to learningParticipate in the development of each child’s Individual Education PlanSelection and ordering of appropriate instructional equipment and materialsPrepare quarterly evaluations, Progress Reports and Report Cards for each student in relation to his/her IEP goals and objectivesAttend staff meetings and meetings with parents and/or school district personnelMaintain a neat, clean and orderly classroom and properly secure the classroom at the end of each school dayCommunicate students’ daily performance to residential and clinical staffOversee Paraprofessionals assigned to their classroom and ensure that they comply with school policy and proceduresDeliver curriculum to students utilizing a learning center model of instruction, whereby students are provided with individualized and small group instruction and remediationHours:Full time; follows the school calendar Pay rate is determined by degree level.
