Quality Department Opportunity: Traveling Quality Inspector icon Mechanical is seeking qualified professionals to join our Quality team. We are currently looking for a Traveling Quality Inspector to join our Quality team . The location for this role is dependent on project needs. Our ideal candidate for a Traveling Quality Inspector is someone with 3+ years of experience who has meticulous attention to detail for top-quality fabrication, and strong communication skills for effective team and partner collaboration. Primary responsibilities for icon’s Traveling Quality Inspector include: Conduct detailed reviews of project drawings and technical specifications to ensure compliance with contract requirements. Developing and managing QA/QC plans, reviewing project documentation, and ensuring compliance with quality standards. Leading coordination efforts including pre-installation conferences, weekly quality meetings, and subcontractor alignment. Conducting on-site inspections and testing (e.g., welds, bolts, pressure tests), overseeing third-party evaluations, and enforcing corrective actions. Maintaining organized records of inspections, test results, and certifications; verifying qualifications of vendors and installers. Coordinating sampling and testing schedules to avoid delays, collaborating with inspection entities, and supporting project closeout with final quality reporting. Primary qualifications for icon’s Traveling Quality Inspector include: Must be able to lift and carry items weighing 50 pounds or more and climb ladders safely and efficiently as part of routine job duties. Possess adequate visual capabilities including close-range vision, distance vision, color differentiation, and peripheral awareness to perform essential job functions safely and effectively. Possessing a weld Inspection certification (CWI, VT-Level II, API, etc.) is preferred. While performing the duties of this position, the team member is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands, reach with hands or arms, and talk Expertise in Mechanical Systems (HVAC, Piping, Plumbing, Sheet Metal) and their associated codes and standards. Capable of periodic travel to job sites and fabrication shops to perform quality-related tasks as needed. Experienced in welding, brazing, fusing, testing, and examination. Analytical acumen with proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and test results. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement quality control processes and procedures. Showcases strong communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentational skills. The ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, clients, and other contractors. Working Schedule for icon’s Traveling Quality Inspector professionals include: Ability to work 6 days a week with 10-hour shifts each day. Ability to be onsite at the jobsite for duration of the project. Eligible to travel home every 3-4 weeks for 2-3 days.
