RN - Acute Surgery Services

Join a dedicated healthcare team in the heart of the Midwest region, providing exceptional surgical nursing care. As a Registered Nurse in Surgery Services, you will collaborate closely with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and surgical staff to support patients before, during, and after surgical procedures using sterile techniques and specialized equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to established safety protocols including infection control, safe patient handling, and critical lab notifications to ensure a secure care environment.
• Deliver high-quality nursing care encompassing medication administration, nursing interventions, and patient and family education.
• Conduct thorough initial and ongoing patient assessments to monitor status, enhance safety, and communicate vital information to the healthcare team.
• Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities and quality measures to support compliance and improve outcomes.
• Effectively communicate with physicians, team members, patients, and families to foster understanding and promote positive health outcomes.
• Delegate tasks appropriately while encouraging teamwork and accountability within the care team.
• Adapt positively to the dynamic healthcare environment, incorporating critical thinking and pursuing ongoing professional development.

Education

Graduation from an accredited nursing program is required.

Experience

Preferred: Minimum of one year acute care nursing experience.

Certifications and Licenses

• Current Registered Nurse license in a Compact State or the state of employment.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Physical and Mental Requirements

This role requires considerable mental focus and physical activity including lifting up to 35 pounds, frequent walking, standing, turning, carrying, pushing, pulling, stooping, crouching, twisting, and reaching.

Working Conditions

Frequent exposure to infectious and communicable diseases, as well as occasional encounters with hostile individuals. Minimal physical discomfort is expected.
