Medical Assistant

Family Medical Associates & Pediatrics

Clinical Duties (may include, but are not limited to): Taking medical histories Explaining treatment procedures to patients Preparing patients for examinations Assisting the physician during examinations Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens Performing basic laboratory tests (Strep/COVID/Flu) Instructing patients about medication and special diets Preparing and administering medications, including by intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections—including vaccinations/immunizations, as directed by a physician or other licensed provider (e.g., a nurse practitioner or physician assistant) Transmitting prescription refills as directed Taking electrocardiograms Wound care and changing dressings Assist healthcare providers in documenting patient encounters by accurately and efficiently transcribing medical information into electronic medical records (EMRs) Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure accurate and complete documentation of patient visits Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines when handling sensitive patient information Review and edit transcriptions for accuracy and completeness, making necessary corrections as needed Organize and manage medical records, ensuring they are up-to-date and easily accessible for healthcare providers Experience Certification as a medical assistant (CCMA or CMA) is highly preferred Familiarity with family practice, pediatrics, or medical fields is a plus Proficient in typing and using computer systems, including EMR software Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology Excellent attention to detail and ability to accurately transcribe medical information Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, and prioritize tasks effectively Note: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
