Assumes the responsibilities for appropriate assessment, treatment, planning, intervention, evaluation management, and referral activities for students. Provide for the promotion and maintenance of health as well as the prevention of illness and injury for the student. Provide direct and indirect care given to students in compliance with school policies, professional standard of practice, physician's orders and individual health plans.Responsibilities of the Position:In conjunction with the School Nurse, be responsible for the formulation, revision, and implementation of the Individual Health PlanIn conjunction with the School Nurse, be responsible for the day-to-day health care needs of students including the administration of medications consistent with licensing limitations and requirementsMaintain school nursing offices in absence of school nurseMaintain hypervigilance with regard to the safety and stability of the studentAttend all classes with the student and continually monitor their health condition as well as their general well-being as requiredMonitor the students during snack, lunch and recess as requiredAttend school designated field trips when assignedAim to increase the student's self-awareness and self-management skills of their medical condition at a level that is developmentally appropriateMaintain a daily nursing log as directedIn conjunction with the School Nurse, ensure the maintenance of accurate health records for the student to the district, state or other appropriate agencies, including MedicaidUphold regulations and laws related to confidentiality, reporting of child abuse and neglect, and other health related requirements.Carry out such other tasks and duties as assigned by the supervising RN or school nurseSpecified Length/Hours of a School Nurse:This is an affiliated (AFSCME Health Union) position under the School Nurse negotiated contract, following the school calendar with additional workshop days.
