Summary:

The Surgical Technologist serves as the essential "scrub technologist" within the surgical suite, primarily supporting labor and delivery procedures. This role may include additional responsibilities as needed to ensure smooth surgical operations.

Experience:

Candidates should ideally have at least one year of experience as a surgical technologist. The position requires familiarity with complex monitoring and life-saving equipment and the ability to perform duties in various assigned areas.

Requirements:

Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking) is necessary. The role demands strict adherence to Standard Precautions due to potential exposure to blood and other infectious materials through skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact. Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of the physiological, psychosocial, developmental, and spiritual needs of patients typically served in this setting.

Physical Demands:

The position involves long hours with variable shifts, requiring extensive standing, walking, bending, lifting, transferring anesthetized patients, and pushing heavy equipment. Manual dexterity, excellent eye-hand coordination, and strong visual and auditory acuity are essential.

Licenses and Certifications:

Certification as a Surgical Technologist (CST) from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting is required.
