Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position at a Magnet-designated teaching hospital, requiring a minimum of 3 years of L&D experience.

Details

• Labor & Delivery unit within a hospital setting caring for adult women of childbearing age
• Unit includes 7 labor beds, 3 triage beds, 2 PACU beds, and 16 mother-baby beds
• 1:1 patient ratio
• Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
• Weekend rotation required unless posted schedule states otherwise
• Floating within the hospital required; no floating to sister hospitals
• EPIC charting system experience required

Requirements

• Active WA RN license or compact license required
• Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery experience required (hard requirement)
• BLS and NRP certifications required
• AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
• Required EPIC charting system experience
• Skilled in labor and delivery management including high-risk and vaginal deliveries, C-section circulation, and vacuum/forceps extraction
• Experience with fetal monitoring (external and internal), IUPC placement, and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
• Experience managing high-risk conditions such as pre-eclampsia, placenta previa, HELLP syndrome, and VBAC
• Proficient in medication administration including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
• Skilled in newborn care including APGAR scoring, neonatal resuscitation, and thermoregulation
• COVID vaccination and booster required with no exceptions

Additional Information

• Provide comprehensive care across labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn stages
• Support patients through antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care including high-risk pregnancy management
• Assist with pain management including epidural, general anesthesia, and PCA usage
• First-time travelers accepted only if they have 3+ years of L&D experience
• RTO limited to 1 week maximum, and holidays must be worked
• RTO cannot be requested during the first 2 weeks of the assignment
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers
• Prior UW Medical Center staff must have an 18-month separation before returning as a traveler
• Facility is a Magnet-designated teaching hospital with Level 4 trauma status
