Accountant I The Accountant I for Apache Corporation will be a member of Apache’s Expenditure & JIB department at the company’s Houston office reporting to the Accounting Manager - Expenditure. This role will be primarily responsible for the following: Perform routine accounting functions and tasks related to Ad Valorem tax processing, research, and reconciliations. Assist with month‑end close, including overhead postings and providing Ad Valorem variance analysis explanations and other internal control procedures timely. Prepare monthly journal entries and 3rd party manual billings. Assist with JIB AR reconciliation and cash applications. Handle routine responses related to the position for: owner inquiries, operational Asset Team inquiries, and internal & external audit requests. Contribute on team projects and ad hoc management requests. Work directly with operational Asset Teams, as well as other groups internal to Apache, to problem solve and provide guidance, as needed. Qualifications & Experience The successful candidate will have the following qualifications and experience: Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting; other field of study may be considered when combined with a minimum of 12 completed accounting hours. Entry level to 1+ years of general accounting or auditing experience in the oil and gas industry. Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel, and Outlook. Knowledge and experience in SAP preferred. Holding or actively pursuing CPA designation preferred Pursues work with energy, drive, and results orientation to positively impact Apache's business success. Appropriately handles accounting issues and problems that arise; referring to higher-level staff, as needed. Possesses a basic knowledge of subject matter. Able to work independently in a fast‑paced environment and meet monthly deadlines. Able to think critically and analyze work performed to identify potential issues and anomalies. Able to work well in a team setting with consistent and professional interactions and approachability with team members. Possesses good communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, administrative, and organizational abilities.
