Job Summary

Manages comprehensive medical nutritional care for patients, including nutrition assessment, development of nutrition care plans, dietary modification, nutrition education, and all activities related to the nutritional needs of the patient/client population.

Effective January 1, 2024, the minimum degree requirement for eligibility to take the registration examination for dietitians changed from a bachelor's degree to a graduate degree. All other didactic and supervised practice eligibility requirements remain the same. This change in degree requirement does not apply to RDNs credentialed prior to January 1, 2024.

Essential functions include:

• Developing and implementing a nutrition plan of care for patients based on multiple criteria.
• Documenting all nutrition-related information.
• Counseling, educating, and developing resources to educate patients, families, and caregivers on prescribed therapeutic diets.
• Partnering with food service staff to ensure meals, supplements, and nutrition support is provided; reviewing patients' menu selections to monitor compliance with modified diets.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree related field of study required or Master's Degree related field of study required.

Licenses and Credentials: Dietitian and Nutritionist [State License] - Generic - HR Only required Registered Dietitian [RD/RDN] - Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) required.

CDCES preferred.

Experience: Completion of dietetic internship required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Good communication skills.
• Ability to effectively evaluate and problem solve.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to guide, teach, and motivate all patient age populations.
• Spanish speaking preferred.
