Senior Materials EngineerAbout the Role: We are seeking a Senior Materials Engineer to join an advanced materials engineering team focused on the development, optimization, and validation of high-performance engineered polymers for demanding applications. This role will lead material selection, formulation development, laboratory testing, and production scale-up while working closely with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams. The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with polymer materials and enjoys solving complex technical challenges from initial material selection through commercial production.Key ResponsibilitiesIdentify, evaluate, and select raw material resins based on technical performance requirements and application needs.Assess the performance, consistency, and suitability of candidate resins through laboratory and application testing.Develop and optimize polymer compounds and formulations to meet specific customer and application requirements.Partner closely with manufacturing teams to successfully scale formulations from laboratory development to production.Design and execute test plans to validate the mechanical, thermal, chemical, and processing performance of compounded materials.Analyze test data, document results, and iterate formulations to meet or exceed performance targets.Troubleshoot material and manufacturing issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.Provide technical guidance regarding material selection, processing parameters, and expected material performance.Prepare technical documentation, application notes, testing reports, and recommendations to support product development and adoption.Collaborate with R&D, Quality, Production, Sales, and Purchasing on product development and continuous improvement initiatives.Support the evaluation of new materials, technologies, and potential applications.Required QualificationsBachelor's degree in Materials Science, Polymer Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline; Master's degree preferred.5+ years of experience in polymer materials, compound formulation, materials engineering, or a related role within a manufacturing or advanced materials environment.Strong hands-on experience with polymer selection, resin evaluation, compound development, and materials testing.Experience evaluating mechanical, thermal, chemical, and processing properties of polymer materials.Demonstrated ability to work with manufacturing teams to scale formulations and resolve processing challenges.Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.Experience interfacing with customers and/or suppliers regarding technical material requirements is highly valued.Preferred QualificationsExperience with engineering polymers used in additive manufacturing, advanced composites, or other high-performance applications.Familiarity with polymer characterization techniques and laboratory equipment, including:Tensile testingDSC/TGARheologySpectroscopyExperience with polymer compounding and formulation optimization.Experience conducting market research or identifying new material and product opportunities.Experience supporting new product development from laboratory concept through production implementation.Why Join This Team?Work with advanced polymer and materials technologies.Play a key role in developing and improving high-performance materials.Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, R&D, quality, and commercial teams.Have direct influence on product development, manufacturing performance, and customer applications.Opportunity for long-term professional growth within an established advanced manufacturing environment.Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package.Relocation Package available
