Research Manager

Position Overview Department: Humana Health System Science Institute — Salary: $90,000 One-year appointment at the University of Houston College of Medicine, renewable based on performance and funding. The Humana Institute at the Tilman J. Fertitta Family College of Medicine, University of Houston (UH), seeks a qualified candidate to serve as a research manager for population health‑related projects. Sample projects include: Leveraging healthcare costs and utilization data to understand and address gaps in care; Increasing adoption and sustained use of telehealth, remote monitoring, and other digital technologies; Mixed‑methods studies triangulating the impact of the lived environment on physical and mental health outcomes. The manager will collaborate with research partners, participate in field research activities, conduct data analysis, lead manuscripts and presentations, and develop grant proposals and research designs. Responsibilities Plan and conduct research in one or more large and complex areas of specialization. Review and manage progress of projects, liaising with other specializations to obtain support or technical expertise. Define procedures or processes to be used in experimental processes and may personally conduct important and/or technically complex investigations. Responsible for administrative activities, including the supervision and evaluation of personnel. Operate with wide latitude for unreviewed action subject only to institutional policies, guidelines, and ethical considerations. Review and evaluate the effectiveness of personnel. Qualifications Education: PhD required. Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of directly job‑related experience. Experience may be considered in lieu of education only if directly related.
