Night Time Engineer

The night time engineer is responsible for assisting with the operation, maintenance, service, and repair of equipment as assigned. This role supports the overall functionality of the property by ensuring all systems are operating efficiently and addressing any issues in a timely manner. The night time engineer may direct and supervise maintenance staff as requested by the chief engineer and/or general manager and is responsible for supporting day-to-day maintenance operations, including the successful completion of assigned tasks.

In addition, this position plays an active role in the preventative maintenance program, responds to guest service requests, and completes work orders as assigned. The night time engineer must perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner while handling a variety of trade-related tasks, including carpentry, painting, plumbing, and general repairs. This role will also assist with the setup and breakdown of meeting and banquet spaces, ensuring all event spaces are arranged according to specifications and ready for use.

Qualification standards include experience in a hotel or a related field preferred, a high school diploma or equivalent required, licensed in a trade preferred, and a valid driver's license for the applicable state. Physical requirements include heavy work, ability to stand during entire shift, and mental requirements such as conveying information clearly, evaluating and selecting among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately, working well in stressful, high pressure situations, and being effective at listening to, understanding and clarifying the issues raised by co-workers and guests.

Duties and functions include approaching all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner, maintaining regular attendance in compliance with standards, maintaining high standards of personal appearance and grooming, complying with Avion Hospitality standards and regulations, training and supervising maintenance engineering staff and coordinating all scheduling, providing direction to the engineering department as requested, ensuring that all engineering personnel fulfill their job functions appropriately, following all hotel and departmental procedures and policies, reporting emergencies and unusual situations immediately, handling guest room maintenance requests in a timely fashion, demonstrating an attitude of cooperation and helpfulness at all times, assisting with the operation, maintenance and repair of equipment, changing out light bulbs, performing preventative maintenance for guest rooms, performing preventative maintenance for ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, HVAC, guestrooms, meeting rooms, the swimming pool and hot tub, performing plumbing repair, laundry equipment repair, preventative maintenance on all exhaust fans and supply, monitoring energy conservation, repairing vacuum cleaners and any other small equipment upon request, immediately following up on any alarms to determine the exact location and cause, determining emergency status and reporting to the front desk with findings, pointing out and assisting with eliminating safety concerns, and assisting in maintenance of health code requirements for pool and spa.
