The Kensington Hotel is looking for an energetic, dependable, and passionate Catering Cook to join our team, preparing meals for University of Michigan student-athletes and athletic department staff on campus!
Imagine starting your day doing what you love, preparing fresh, delicious meals that help fuel some of the university’s outstanding athletes, and being home every evening. With an early morning start at 5:00 AM and evenings off, this is a unique opportunity to combine your culinary passion with a schedule that allows you to enjoy your personal time.
Full-time hours available!
What You'll Do:
Prepare food items in accordance with production requirements and quality standards while maintaining a safe, sanitary work environment.
Prepare food of consistent quality following recipe cards and production and portion standards.
Start food items that are prepared ahead of time, making sure not to overprepare estimated needs.
Date all food containers and rotate as per Graham Hotel System’s Hospitality standards, making sure that all perishables are kept at proper temperatures.
Check pars for shift use, determine necessary preparation, freezer pull and line set up. Note any out of stock items or possible shortages. Assist in keeping buffet stocked.
Return all food items not used on next shift to designated storage areas.
Assist in setting up plans and actions to correct any food cost problems, control food waste, loss and usage per Graham Hotel System’s Hospitality standards.
Operate, maintain and properly clean deep fryer, broiler, stove, steamer, food processor, mixer, slicer, oven steam table, tilt kettle, waffle iron and flat top grill.
This position involves interacting with guests, taking special requests, and creating a memorable dining experience by offering personalized attention and engaging with them in a friendly and professional manner.
Perform any other job-related duties as assigned.
