About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Days Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience required License: Valid nursing license required Certifications: BLS, NRP required; intermediate or advanced FHM preferred Must-Have: Must have LDRP experience. Must be comfortable attending deliveries independently and circulating in C-sections. Must be comfortable assisting with catching babies and transitioning babies. Must be able to titrate drips such as Magnesium, Pitocin, and Insulin. Description: The unit is focused on birthing and postpartum care. There are 13 Labor and Delivery beds and 14 postpartum beds, with an average of 170-190 births per month. The staff follows AWHONN guidelines for nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2 in L&D and 1:3-4 for couplets. The unit experiences high-risk cases including preeclampsia, diabetes, and psychosocial issues. There is in-house Client/hospitalist support 24/7, as well as neonatal nurse practitioners in the nursery. Anesthesia is also available on-site 24/7. Patient care assistants and surgical techs provide support on each shift. Effective communication and adaptability to workflows, policies, and procedures are essential. Travelers may be required to function in postpartum with routine mom and baby competencies. The unit uses an electronic fetal monitoring system for patient care. Shift scheduling may allow for block scheduling, with weekend requirements every other weekend. The manager fosters a friendly environment and values feedback to ensure quality work. There is no floating outside the department. The facility can cancel shifts according to established policies.
