Vice President for Integrated Health

REPORTS TO : Chief Innovation and Programs Officer DIVISION : Programs and Services STATUS : Exempt Summary Description: The Vice President for Integrated Health is a senior CCUSA National Office-based leader responsible for advancing a national strategy that strengthens the capacity of member social service agencies to integrate physical health, behavioral health, substance use services, care coordination, and social determinants of health interventions. Reporting to the Chief Innovation and Programs Officer, the Vice President for Integrated Health provides strategic direction, technical assistance, partnership development, policy insight, and program innovation guidance to member agencies improve access, quality, sustainability, and outcomes for individuals, families, and communities benefitting from their services. This position collaborates across departments in the national office and maintains relations with external collaborators, including health systems, government agencies (in close collaboration with the CCUSA Government Relations team), national associations, Catholic Church-inspired and other faith-based and community-based organizations, to position the network as a trusted partner in whole-person, community-based care. Primary Responsibilities: Develop and implement a national integrated health strategy that aligns physical health, behavioral health, treatment for substance use and other behavioral dependences, aging, disability, in close collaboration with other CCUSA Programs and Services foci, including veterans, family services, housing, nutrition, disaster response, and other social service priorities within a whole-person care (including spiritual care) / integral human development framework. Provide leadership to development and implementation of special projects related to integral health that will engage cross-sector participation within the Program and Services Team at CCUSA and engage CCUSA member agency participation benefiting from funding, research, and sharing of good practices. Provide consultation, training, tools, and implementation support to member agencies seeking to build, expand, or sustain integrated health services, including collaborations with health systems, Medicare/Medicaid and private payers, managed care organizations, accountable care entities, federally qualified health centers, behavioral health providers, and public health agencies. Identify and disseminate promising and evidence-informed models that address social drivers of health, improve care coordination, reduce health disparities, and strengthen health and integral human development outcomes for people experiencing poverty, trauma, behavioral health needs, chronic illness, homelessness, food insecurity, social isolation, or other forms of vulnerability. Lead the development of network-wide learning communities, communities of practice, webinars, peer exchanges, written guidance, and technical assistance resources related to integrated health and whole-person care. Secondary Responsibilities: Collaborate with CCUSA Government Relations, Development, Communications, Research and Data, and other Program and Service teams to advance integrated health priorities, inform national policy positions, support grant development, and communicate the CCUSA network’s impact. Build and maintain strategic relationships, with national governmental agencies (in close collaboration with the CCUSA Government Relations team), national associations, health care systems, philanthropy, academia, health care payers, and other stakeholders to expand partnership opportunities for member agencies and the national network. Support member agencies in understanding health financing, value-based care, Medicaid and Medicare opportunities, managed and private care contracting, quality measures, compliance expectations, billing, and sustainable business models for integrated service delivery. Develop performance measures, data collection approaches, and evaluation frameworks to assess program quality, outcomes, equity, access, and return on investment across integrated health initiatives. Represent the national office at conferences, convenings, funder meetings, policy discussions, and external forums related to social services, integrated health, behavioral health, faith community health care and disease prevention programming and community empowerment. Supervise staff, consultants, interns, and project teams as assigned, ensuring high-quality work plans, accountability, collaboration, and alignment with organizational values, mission and strategic priorities. Lead the development, coordination, and facilitation of continuing education opportunities for social workers and other qualified professionals, including ACE (Approved Continuing Accreditation) and CEC (Continuing Education Credits) approval processes. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Broad knowledge of integrated health, behavioral health, substance use services, public health, health equity, social determinants of health, care coordination, social and community-based service delivery. Familiarity with the core Catholic Church moral and social teachings, including the Ethical and Religious Directives of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and their practical application. Demonstrated understanding of the role of social service agencies addressing unmet health-related social needs, and collaborating with health care organizations. Knowledge of Medicaid, Medicare, managed and private care, value-based payment, health plan partnerships, quality improvement, compliance, and health-related funding opportunities. Ability to translate complex health policy, financing, clinical, and operational issues into practical guidance for diverse agencies and faith- and community-based leaders. Strong strategic planning, project management, facilitation, meeting design, written communication, public speaking, and relationship-building skills. Ability to analyze data, identify trends, interpret financial and operational information, and recommend practical improvements for program effectiveness and sustainability. Capacity to work effectively with executive leaders, program directors, clinicians, community organizers, government officials, funders, and people with lived experience. Commitment to mission-driven service, human dignity, cultural humility, trauma-informed practice, racial equity, accessibility, and the reduction of health disparities. Ability to keep abreast of current and changing laws and regulatory standards and their impact on hospital operations and activities and work collaboratively with the Government Relations team regarding CCUSA positions. Ability to develop and implement effective policies, standards and procedures relating to matters under defined scope of responsibility. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations as required by the duties of the position. Education & Experience: Master’s or Doctoral degree required, in public health, social work, nursing, health administration, counseling, psychology, public policy, nonprofit management, or a related field; doctoral degree or clinical licensure preferred. Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible leadership experience in social services, integrated health, behavioral health, public health, health care collaborations, social services, or related fields. Experience working with or within a national, statewide, or multi-site network of nonprofit, faith-based, community-based, health, or human service organizations strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience developing strategies, collaborations, grant-supported initiatives, training programs, technical assistance resources, or communities of practice. Experience engaging health systems, Medicaid managed care organizations, behavioral health providers, public agencies, philanthropy, or national associations preferred. Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, manage complex cross-functional projects and communicate effectively with senior leaders and external stakeholders. Work Environment: This position is based in the National Office of Catholic Charities USA, with flexibility for hybrid work as determined by organizational policy. The position requires periodic national travel for member agency consultation, conferences, convenings, site visits, partner meetings, and training events. The role requires extended periods of computer work, virtual meetings, writing, presentation preparation, sitting, and occasional standing or walking during events.
