Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts | 7p Start

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a high-volume, 65-bed Emergency Department serving patients ranging from newborns to the elderly, including minor complaints through critically ill presentations such as cardiac arrest, strokes, and heart attacks
• Manage and titrate a wide variety of drips including vasopressor, cardiac, and antihypertensive medications
• Interpret cardiac monitor rhythms and recognize life-threatening arrhythmias; Philips monitor system in use with orientation provided
• Collaborate with ED techs, charge nurses, respiratory therapists, and a minimum of three attending physicians per shift, as well as a 24/7 house supervisor
• Draw and collect labs in coordination with ED techs; phlebotomy may assist with boarder patients
• Adhere to a scheduled rotation including every-other-weekend and holiday requirements; travelers are scheduled by the scheduling manager with opportunity to submit time-off requests

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license (or confirmation that the application process has been initiated)
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, and either ENPC or PALS, and either TNCC or TNS
• Ability to pass a drug screen; facility maintains a drug-free campus policy
• Candidates with a permanent address within 50 miles of the facility are subject to a local rate adjustment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, with at least one prior travel assignment preferred
• SANE RN experience preferred
• Experience working in a teaching hospital with residents preferred
• Proficiency with vasopressor drip titration and management of critically ill ED patients
