Hospitals and healthcare facilities across  Hawaii are seeking qualified  Medical Laboratory Scientists (MT/MLS) and Medical Laboratory Technicians (MLT)to join their laboratory teams.

\n

Opportunities are available for  generalist bench technologists, senior technologists, blood bank professionals, and laboratory leadership across multiple Hawaiian islands. Candidates with strong generalist experience and flexibility regarding location and shift are encouraged to apply.

Duties/Responsibilities:\n

\n
• Perform clinical laboratory testing across a variety of laboratory departments, including  chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, microbiology, and blood bank .
\n
• Perform phlebotomy as needed and ensure proper patient identification, specimen collection, labeling, handling, and processing.
\n
• Evaluate test results for accuracy and validity and identify abnormal or critical values.
\n
• Perform quality control testing and follow established laboratory quality assurance procedures.
\n
• Operate, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory analyzers and equipment.
\n
• Perform blood bank testing, including  type-and-screen and transfusion-related testing , as applicable to the position.
\n
• Communicate critical laboratory results promptly to the appropriate provider or clinical team.
\n
• Maintain accurate laboratory records and documentation.
\n
• Follow established laboratory, safety, infection control, and regulatory procedures.
\n
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals.
\n
• Support efficient laboratory workflow and turnaround times.
\n
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and other departmental activities.
\n
• Senior and leadership-level professionals may provide technical oversight, staff support, workflow coordination, and departmental leadership based on the position.
\n

Qualifications:\n

\n
• Appropriate education and training for the position.
\n
• Hawaii MT/MLT license required. Candidates with a Hawaii license currently in process may be considered but must ultimately obtain the appropriate Hawaii license.
\n
• ASCP certification preferred for bench positions;  AMT certification is also accepted for applicable positions.
\n
• Strong generalist bench experience preferred, particularly in  chemistry, hematology, urinalysis, coagulation, and blood bank .
\n
• Candidates should be comfortable performing  phlebotomy when needed.
\n
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality patient care.
\n
• Ability to work independently and effectively in a hospital laboratory environment.
\n
• Candidates should be prepared to provide details regarding: \n

  • Testing performed and instrumentation used
  \n
  • Current hands-on bench responsibilities
  \n
  • Clinical rotation location and date

Specialized Opportunities:\n

Blood Bank – Experienced MT/MLS

\n

\n
• Experienced MT/MLS, Blood Bank, or SBB professionals strongly preferred.
\n
• Primarily evening and night opportunities, with day shift potentially available for an exceptional candidate.
\n
• Exceptional MLT candidates may be considered with blood bank experience in a  Level I or Level II trauma-center hospital .

Senior Medical Technologist

\n

\n
• MT/MLS required; MLT candidates are not eligible for this position.
\n
• Strong generalist laboratory experience required.
\n
• Day-shift opportunity.

Laboratory Leadership

\n
• Opportunities may be available at the  Supervisor, Manager, and Director levels.

• ASCP certification required for leadership positions.
\n
• Leadership and laboratory management experience required based on position level.
