Substitute Teacher- St Gregory the Great Catholic School

Summary A substitute teacher is responsible for enabling each child to pursue his or her education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of his or her regular teacher. A substitute teacher is responsible for carrying out the lesson plans of the regular teacher and meeting the duties of teaching as outlined in the policies of the school and Archdiocese of San Antonio. Employment Status Temporary FLSA Status Non-Exempt/Hourly Reports To Principal Position Responsibilities Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school Acts as a witness to Gospel values by modeling the teachings of the Catholic Church Supports and adheres to the Religious Standards for Catholic School Employees and policies and procedures of the school and Archdiocese Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters Provides instructional reinforcement for individual students or small groups of students Supervises students in the cafeteria, schoolyard, specials, hallways, on field trips, and/or during before and after school programs Attends to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs Performs other duties as directed by the classroom teacher and school administration Uses approved, corrective, and positive discipline procedures in dealing with inappropriate student conduct Collaborates with school personnel to enhance the work environment and support academic programming Adheres to safety training and protocols on a daily basis, and takes precautionary measures to ensure the safety and well-being of self and others Protects the confidentiality of any information or material obtained in the service with the organization, including client names, services rendered, donor names and gifts, internal and external investigations, and financial information Adheres to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy Approaches interactions and tasks with a solution‑oriented mindset, and works collaboratively to promote the mission and vision of the organization Performs other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Education High school diploma or equivalent required Bachelor’s degree preferred Experience Minimum of 1 year of substituting or teaching experience preferred License and Credentials Reliable transportation Valid driver license Valid vehicle insurance Must pass archdiocesan Safe Environment Requirements and background screening Must pass Texas DPS Fingerprint‑based Applicant Clearinghouse screening Minimum Knowledge and Skills Attends to students' physical, personal, academic, and emotional needs Provides instructional reinforcement for individual students or small groups of students General supervision of the class Detail oriented, organized, self‑motivated, and works well independently and on a team Has good written and verbal skills Has good critical thinking and problem solving skills This is not necessarily an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, duties, or working conditions associated with the job.
