Position Overview

We are seeking a qualified, fellowship-trained Cardiac Anesthesiologist to join a well-established, physician-led anesthesia practice. This opportunity offers a diverse clinical environment, advanced cardiac surgical services, competitive compensation, and a clear pathway to partnership.

The selected physician will provide direct cardiac anesthesia care while also participating in the general anesthesiology pool when not assigned to cardiac cases.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct, non-supervisory anesthesia care for cardiac surgical procedures.
• Manage anesthesia for routine and complex cardiac cases, including coronary artery bypass grafting, valve surgery, aortic surgery, and LVAD implantation.
• Support minimally invasive cardiac procedures and structural heart interventions, including TAVR and MitraClip.
• Participate in general anesthesiology services across multiple surgical specialties when not assigned to cardiac cases.
• Collaborate with cardiac surgeons, perioperative teams, and other healthcare professionals to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
• Contribute to perioperative optimization, acute pain management, and enhanced recovery initiatives.
• Participate in required cardiac call coverage and related clinical responsibilities.

Clinical Environment

The practice provides anesthesia services across multiple inpatient hospitals and ambulatory surgery centers, including a Level I trauma center and a Level II trauma center with a dedicated cardiac program and modern cardiac facilities.

The broader clinical case mix includes:

• Cardiac and thoracic surgery
• Orthopedics
• Neurosurgery
• Vascular surgery
• General surgery
• Interventional radiology
• Urology and gynecology
• ENT and routine pediatric cases

Complex pediatric cases are managed by a dedicated pediatric anesthesia team.

Call Responsibilities

• Home-based cardiac call coverage.
• First call consists of 24-hour shifts.
• Weekday second call coverage until 7:00 PM, with a paid stipend.
• Weekday call frequency is approximately 6-8 times per month.
• Weekend call is approximately every sixth weekend.
• Additional voluntary shifts may be available for increased earning potential.
• Call stipends vary by weekday and weekend coverage.
• Additional call-in bonuses include $1,000 for non-pump cases and $2,000 for pump cases.
• Hourly compensation is provided while in the hospital.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base Salary: $501,000 annually
• Average Total Annual Compensation: Approximately $655,000, including cardiac call and employer-funded benefits
• Sign-On Bonus: $100,000
• Relocation Assistance: $10,000
• Retirement Contribution: $70,000 employer-funded 401(k) contribution
• CME Allowance: $3,000 annually
• Residency/Fellowship Stipend: $2,000 per month
• Health insurance through Blue Cross
• Full reimbursement for licensing and board fees
• Vehicle stipend of $500 per month for travel between campuses
• Cellphone stipend of $80 per month
• Eight weeks of paid vacation
• Five paid sick days annually
• Employer-funded Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) of $1,650

Partnership Track

• Partnership vote at 18 months.
• Partnership eligibility upon completion of two years of employment.
• One-time equity buy-in of $2,500.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree.
• Completion of an accredited anesthesiology residency.
• Fellowship training in cardiac anesthesiology.
• Board certification or board eligibility in anesthesiology, as applicable.
• Ability and willingness to provide direct cardiac anesthesia care.
• Comfort managing complex cardiac surgical cases.
• Willingness to participate in the general anesthesiology pool and required cardiac call schedule.
• Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills.
